For more than a century, International Women’s Day has stood as a global call for justice—born from the courageous actions of women who demanded fair pay, shorter hours, and the right to vote. Since 1978, Toronto has carried this legacy forward by hosting the largest IWD rally and march in North America, bringing together thousands to celebrate the political, social, and activist achievements of women past, present, and future.
Our annual rally and march are entirely organized by volunteers—community members from the IWD Organizing Committee, Women Working with Immigrant Women, and a wide network of labour, social, and gender justice activists committed to building a more equitable world.
